How to Choose Your Wedding Colors

Choosing your wedding color scheme is always important and can be one of the most fun tasks! Though you have to choose your colors wisely according to such factors as the season, weather, skintones, and theme, there are so many pretty color combinations to choose from. I love this Spring/Summers corals, lavender, pink, and hues of blue and green. For the upcoming Fall/Winter the same honey suckle pink is staying as well as a shade of coral. I also adore the deep teals and purple as well as the earthtones.

Blushing Bride

I decided to go visit my friends over at MAC Houston while I was in town and ended up buying 4 new blushes to put in my makeup kit. I finally got a chance to use all 4 of them and I like the selections we picked. In some instances we want to choose colors on our own but every now and then it's ok to rely on the help of the makeup artist or beauty consultant at the counter. They are trained professionals that know their stuff. NOW I know sometimes they get it wrong but when you are dealing with several hundred clients a week, it's hard to get it right 100% of the time! The colors we chose are 3 colors that are soft spring/summer colors with a hint of shimmer and the other color is more for contouring.

"Blushing Bride"

I decided to go visit my friends over at MAC Houston while I was in town and ended up buying 4 new blushes to put in my makeup kit. I'm really anxious to use them for tomorrows wedding. 3 colors are soft spring/summer colors with a hint of shimmer and the other color is more for contouring. I've never used a cream blush so I decided to get one and try it because cream blushes go so well with liquid and cream foundations are excellent on enhancing that soft bridal look.

Relieve dry-cracked lips

I have a hard time with dry lips and as you know I found the Nivea lip moisturizer which I love. It does moisturize my lips but doesn't exfoliate them so here is an easy and recession proof way to exfoliate your lips at home. I found this on youtube.

Items Needed:
- Olive Oil
- White Sugar
- Measuring Spoon (tablespoon)
- Nail Dish (2)
- Facial spatula
- New clean toothbrush

Direction:
- Apply a dime size amount of olive oil to your lips and let sit for 10 minutes
- Mix a small amount of olive oil in with the sugar in order to make a paste-like consistency
- While oil is still on your lips, apply sugar paste to lips with toothbrush and lightly scrub lips
- Wipe of lips with tissue
- Apply another dime size of olive oil to your lips and your done.

Every now and then you have to stop and let your hair and scalp breathe. Let down your hair (or weave) and just sit back and relax. Healthy hair not only starts from the inside out, it also starts with great products. I've been a Paul Mitchell fan since I can remember. His products are consistant and edgy but they do what they say they're going to do (if used properly). I think everyone should have a bottle of "Shampoo Two" in their cabinet because it really cleanses the hair and gets rid of all the spray, oil, gloss, sheen, and shilaque we use on our hair to get that style as "fly" as we can. It has a fresh smell and a little goes a long way. I suggest using it atleast 2 times a month before your regular Paul Mitchell Shampoo then follow that with your Paul Mitchell Conditioner. You'll definetly see a difference in the bounce and swing of your hair. Remember to always follow the directions on all of your products to prevent misuse and damage to your hair.

Directions: Pour all ingredients except candy in a shaker with ice or blend. Sugar the rim of a martini glass, pour in beverage, and top with Pop Rocks.

Rejuvenate Your Lazy Lips

I have the worst luck with my lips. They are always so dry and are always peeling. I was watching a television program where the dr. said that if your lips are dry then that meant you needed to drink more water. Well who has time to drink water all day with a career like mine when I'm always on the go. God knows I don't want to have to go to the potty 80 times a day, not to mention what would happen if I get stuck in traffic!!! SOOOOO I tested 2 products, one being Carmex and the other being Nivea Rejuvenation Q10+. I have to say hands down that Nivea won my lips over. I don't have to apply it 10 times a day. It is a thicker consitency than Carmex and it even has a small hint of color. I absolutely love the fact that it moisturizes my lips and doesn't just sit on top of them making it look like I've been eating chicken all day. BONUS - it has SPF 4 in it so it can not only help block the sun but can still be used in photographs without reflecting too much light. I like most women am always searching for the perfect foundation with the perfect price so I went on a search. The last couple of months I've tried different brands of makeup and finally have hit the jackpot! We all know how important it is to keep our body clean but it seems as though woman get facial cleansing all wrong. Ive heard several horrible cleansing regiments so I'm here to help!

It is always important to cleanse your face and neck area daily. I suggest a mild cleansing system where all products work together to make the skin look and feel its best. A couple of my favorites are Origins, Mary Kay, Neutrogena, and even Avon. They all consist of basic products such as: cleansers, toners, masks, moisturizers, eye treatments and even age fighting serums which treat and help prevent sagging or tired looking skin. When searching for the perfect products, make sure you are able to sit down and talk to someone about the products you're going to purchase. You really don't want to make unnecessary purchase and/or waist money on products that weren't made for your skin type. When devoting time and a little money to your daily cleansing routine, you'll begin to see a difference in the "outer" you.

Great skin doesn't always come from the outside so remember to eat the right amount of fruits and veggies to bring out skins natural beauty and glow. Water is a key ingredient and an important part of cleansing. It should be consumed daily in order to hydrate the skin and prevent cracking or peeling skin.

Being a makeup artist I feel like I have to keep up with the latest tricks of the trade to keep makeup looking and feeling as natural or as flawless as possible on camera and off. I find that using Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief POWDER-GEL under your foundation (after a light moisturizer) will prevent oily skin from shinning through your makeup. It is non-greasy and fragrant free so it dries like a powder once applied the skin. The gel contains vitamin e and aloe so it's perfectly safe for your face when used in moderation. A little goes a long way so you don't need to apply much.

Just think about it:

If it's main purpose is to prevent unwanted moisture (chafing) in areas such as bikini lines, intimate areas, plus size women, and new moms why wouldn't it work?

TAKE THE CHALLENGE:

If you have oily skin, simply apply a small amount on your most oily area and then apply your foundation and the rest of your makeup. After about 1-2 hours I want you to look at the area and see the difference for yourself. For about $7.00/bottle it's worth the try. Whether it works out for you or not I want you to let me know. I recently had to teach a makeup class in Dallas a few weeks ago and was limited on time. 10 Beauty Mistakes to Avoid on Your Wedding Day!

1) Forgetting to use waterproof makeup! No ones likes the black smudges and ocassional tear trace down your face!

2) Tanning right before the wedding. I've had brides come in super red and expect makeup to fix it. You dont want your tan to look fake so try tanning at least a week prior. Or even try spray tan vs tanning bed.

3) Greasy face in photos. Eliminate shine in photos by bringing along blot tissues. they are perfect for removing excess oil without taking away the makeup.

4)Your lipstick looks erased! Carry the color stickstick or lip gloss with you to touch up throughout the night.

5) Not investing in a trial run appointment – Yes it may cost you to do a trial run of makeup and hair before your big day, but what' worse than hating your hair the day of because it didnt look like that picture you wanted!

6) Lipstick smeers on teeth – Try old pageant trick. Stick your finger (clean of course) in your mouth and slide it out. This makes sure there's not excess product that will reach your teeth. Next add very small amount of Vaseline on two front teeth! This also helps to get smiling the entire nice in front of your papparazi!

7)Assuming airbrush means you can’t sweat off your makeup! Airbrush does hold up very well, but bottomline, its still makeup. Try getting a trial of airbrush if you've never done it before to see how it holds for you. Also blot tissues are your friend throughout your big nice.

8) Too many hair pins in your hair all day can be annoying. Be selective of the hairstyle. Updo are beautiful but perhaps you can wear it up for ceremony and let half down during reception?! This way come reception time you can really "let your hair down" and have fun!

9) Getting a facials right before the big day. This is definitely not a good idea. You dont want to have a tight face with redness! Get one at least the week before.

10) Neglecting your eyebrows! Dont do them yourself. Your brow frame your face! let a professional take care of your brows. Also its a good idea to get them done a day or two before so there is no redness.

As I sit in the Waldorf-Astoria in NYC, recouping from a hectic business trip, I can’t help but notice that this classic and globally famous hotel has inspired me.

When you first step foot into the grand foyer, you’re greeted by a beautiful chandelier that gives the room a champagne glow. Immediately I thought, “I’d love to get married here.” There’s a nostalgic elegance the hotel has that other accommodations have moved away from.

When everyone from the President to Queen Elizabeth to Brad and Angelina stay here, you know the Waldorf is doing something right … but I digress. In almost every room there’s marble, floral prints and rich colors. The rich colors are classic and conservative, and tickled my candy. :)

While I was not lucky enough to stay in a presidential suite or see any dignitaries, my room without a view hosted a slew of patterns and colors.

We live in a world where popular wedding colors are bright and full of spring’s reflection. Fuchsia, pink, yellow, purple, orange or yellow can be found in just about every wedding photo you see on Facebook. These colors are easy to incorporate into décor, attire, flowers, makeup and of course, candy buffets.

Yet after my stay at the Waldorf, I’m confident that brides that opt for navy blues, deep reds, gold and/or browns can enjoy a candy buffet that’s just as pleasing to the eye. Besides, who ever said the words classic and candy didn’t go together? See pictures from the Waldorf Astoria in New York

A trend has been spotted this year and will continue in 2010, that is two tier cakes! Brides are ordering multiple cakes and placing them as centerpieces on tables. I think this is pretty cool since you can mix and match flavors, or keep all the same. If you have large wedding, try skipping tables and alternating with flowerpieces on ones without cake.
